FUNCTIONAL DESIGN® 10th ANNIVERSARY/CLOSE OUT SALE
IMPORTANT- UPDATED for 2011: the Doubler is compatible with many mummy style sleeping bags made after 2000 using a full-length YKK #8 coil separating zipper; the Doubler is NOT COMPATIBLE with any bags which use a YKK #5 or # 10 zipper. The best way to check compatibility is to take your Sweetie Pie to a sporting goods store and try it out. If it is compatible, it will zip in easily on both sides of the zipper; if not-please don't force it.
We've had reports (5/11) is compatible with most new Marmot bags and also several North Face and REI bags.
These bags made from 2000-2008 bags are a sure fit: (there may be more)
North Face: Blue Kazoo, Dark Star, Tundra Snowshoe, Cat’s Meow, Goliath
Sierra Designs: Wild Bill, Paul Bunyan, Nache, Rosa
REI: Polar Pod, Zenith, Sahara, Mohave, Kilo Plus
Marmot: Never Summer, Teton, Pounder, Pinnacle, Sawtooth
Mountain Hardware: Switch, First Dimension
LL Bean: Mt. Washington zero degree, High Camp zero degree
Why the CLOSE OUT SALE?
YKK has changed the design of their #8 coil zipper toggle, making the Doubler’s insert pin incompatible with most 2009 sleeping bags.
REPLACE THE ZIPPER
The Doubler & Expander can easily be updated to mate with your sleeping bag. Take the Doubler to a repair shop and have a new zipper installed, or order a #5 or #8 coil separating zipper from Seattle Fabrics and do the installation yourself.
LAST CHANCE:
Functional Design® Doublers & Expanders are patented, and will not be available after we sell off this inventory. We will not be attempting to keep up with the recent changes in both zipper size and length.
